About Us

Renewing the future: A commitment to energy production that is fiscally and environmentally beneficial today and for generations.

With great thanks to our customers and communities, Appalachian Energy is the fastest growing clean energy developer in North Carolina. Through the deployment of solar energy heating and cooling systems and our proprietary high-efficiency PV panels, Appalachian Energy is bringing cost-effective clean, renewable energy to our homes and businesses. In addition to these retail products, Appalachian Energy is also committed to being a leading renewable energy producer with a focus on solar, wind, and hydroelectric sources.

Appalachian Energy systems are environmentally sustainable, reduce greenhouse gases, and give our customers lower energy bills, and the energy and fiscal security that comes from being an independent energy producer. Our goal is that renewable technologies and conservation will greatly reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and the nuclear generation of electricity. We strive to meet this goal through the creative exploration of new technologies, using existing infrastructure, and, the skill and passion of our people.

We are off to a good start. Since our formation in 2001, we have produced more than 2 million kilowatt-hours of clean power, enough for over 650 homes. We have also designed and developed solar energy systems that reduce heating and cooling cost for commercial and residential markets up to 65 percent annually. Our expanding team has over 50 years of experience in the operation of hydroelectric power production, engineering, governmental affairs, HVAC design and installations, and administration. We are proud to be creating new high-skill jobs in an industry that is becoming a model for sustainable economic development.
